“The largest regatta in the world,” writes Guinness World Record, “has 2689 participants and is the Barcolana in Trieste.”
The Barcolana, the international sailing regatta now in its 56th edition: a magical mix of competitive competition and “pop” sailing celebration that transforms Trieste into Europe’s sailing capital. The celebration involves everyone: participants and spectators in a crescendo of emotions to be experienced from the days before with the setting up of the Barcolana Village, the arrival of the boats and culminating on the day of the regatta. You can learn about the myths and legends of the palaces and their owners-navigators or great bankers who built empires with the sea or escaped at night. Sea labs cross stories, geographies, and navigation maps of our ancestors are transformed with augmented reality into fantastic games to take you to discover the meaning of journeys, of your journey of direction to discover your origins. Retrieve the memory of the sea and your ancestors who crossed the Ocean to reach America.
