The Municipality of Forgaria nel Friuli, winner of the Call for the realization of cultural activities in favor of Italian-descendants in the world, as part of the project “2024 – Year of Italian Roots”, announces the launch of a cultural project aimed at celebrating Italian emigration and strengthening ties with the communities of descendants of Italians abroad.
The project will run from June 2024 to the end of February 2025 and will include a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing historical memory and promoting responsible and return tourism.
Project Initiatives
- “Dear friend, I’m writing to you…” The project saw the creation of a digital archive and a photographic exhibition with photographs, postcards, letters, telegrams and testimonies of stories from those who lived abroad and sent their thoughts to loved ones who remained in Italy.
This initiative offers an intimate and personal insight into the lives of emigrants, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the stories and feelings of our compatriots.
The exhibition will be open from August 2024 to February 2025. - “The Emigrant’s Ball” An evening of 50s and 60s music in the square to celebrate the families of the emigrants and their return to Forgaria.
The event invites all families of emigrants who wish to reconnect with their roots to participate in this special evening of celebration and remembrance.
The evening will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024.
