2 minutes

The Municipality of Sagrado, assignee of the Call for the realization of cultural activities in favor of Italian-descendants in the world, has organized a series of unmissable events as part of the “2024 – Year of Italian Roots” project.
In collaboration with the Cikaleoperose association, these activities aim to create a deep bond between the participants and the history of their ancestors, through immersive poetic visits and guided walks to discover symbolic places of one of the darkest periods in the history of Friuli Venezia Giulia: the First World War.

The program of events intends to offer a unique experience that combines history, nature and culture, rediscovering one’s roots.
Calendar of Events:

  • Saturday 29 June, 5:00 am or Poetic and Immersive Visit at Dawn: An excursion along the paths of Monte San Michele, on the occasion of the anniversary of the gas attack of 29 June 1916.
An immersion in the history and memories of a tragic and significant event.
  • Sunday 14 July, 7:30 pm or Guided Tour at Dusk: A tour of the open-air museum of Monte San Michele, where participants explored the historical remains in the light of sunset, in the evocative and reflective atmosphere of the place.
  • Saturday 10 August, 9:00 pm or Immersive Poetic Night Tour: A path dedicated to Giuseppe Ungaretti, which will lead participants through the places that inspired his poems, between the shadows of the night and the lights of the stars.
  • Saturday 14 September, 9:30 am or Guided Tour: An excursion to Mount Brestovec, a place full of historical and natural memories, where visitors can discover the secrets of the landscape and its history.
  • Saturday 21 September, 9:30 am or Nature Visit: A tour along the Ungaretti Path, to discover the unspoiled nature and the traces left by the Great War, with poetry readings and reflections on the importance of historical memory.
  • Sunday 29 September, 9:30 am or Poetic and Immersive Visit: The gunboat of Monte Brestovec will be the protagonist of this last visit, where participants will be able to touch the material testimonies of history, immersing themselves in a story that intertwines past and present.

All events are free and represent an unmissable opportunity to rediscover one’s roots through sensory and cultural experiences.
In case of bad weather, the events will be postponed to a later date.
